On Being Gandhi: The Art and Politics of Seeing
The images in this exhibition, taken by photographer Cop Shiva (Bengaluru, India), come from a series titled “Being Gandhi,” which consists entirely of images of Gandhi impersonator, Byagadehalli Basavaraju.
In addition to the exhibition, on Saturday, April 13, there will be a panel presentation with the artist and curators (4:30 – 5:30 in the Kroc Institute Theater) followed by a reception (5:30 – 6:30 in the Kroc Institute Garden of the Sea). These events are open to the public.
The exhibition originated in The Frank Museum of Art, Otterbein University, Westerville, OH. It has travelled to Duke University, NC and Belmont University, TN. Curators: Chaya Chandrasekhar, Oklahoma City Community College, and Janice Glowski, Otterbein University, Westerville, Ohio. It will be shown at the University of San Diego during the month of April.
