Prepared for the Association for Asian Studies
Submitted by Dr. Marianna McJimsey
Executive Director, ASIANetwork
INTRODUCTION
The ASIANetwork is an affiliate of the Association for Asian Studies. All affiliates are required by the AAS to submit annual reports. The reports are forwarded to the Board of Directors of AAS for review at the annual meeting, and are used by the AAS secretariat to keep files current.
The Association for Asian Studies annual reports are made by calendar year. The administrative year of the ASIANetwork runs from the conclusion of the April ASIANetwork Conference to the conclusion of the following April ASIANetwork Conference. Therefore, it is important to note that the 1998 AAS affiliate report for the ASIANetwork bridges the work of the 1997-1998 ASIANetwork Board of Directors, chaired by Van Symons, Augustana College and the work of the 1998-1999 ASIANetwork Board of Directors, chaired by Suzanne Barnett, University of Puget Sound.
